The following Russian VIPs have been invited to Leipzig: Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Industry and Construction of the Russian Federation State Duma A. M. Yashin; Vice Mayor of Moscow V. I. Resin; First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Karelia P. V. Chernov; Governor of Samara K. A. Titov; Vice Governor and Chairman of the Construction Committee of the Saint Petersburg Administration A. I. Vakhmistrov and his first deputy A. V. Lobanov; Chairman of the Construction Committee of the Leningrad Region Government Y. D. Boyko; Rector of the St. Petersburg State Construction Academy Academician Y. P. Panibratov; Director of Petersburg Construction Market journal V. A. Simonovsky, and others. Special attention is being paid to preparing official meetings for the Russian delegation. The program is being developed jointly by the organizers of the Leipzig Fair and the Russian Federation Embassy in Berlin. The Russia Day program (October 26) is also being thoroughly prepared; the Central German Construction Forum is a co-organizer. The main themes of Russia Day will be: — attracting investment; — rebuilding panel houses; — experience with public reform; — construction of roads and airports; — conditions for entering the Russian and German markets; — cooperation between Russian and German firms. On October 25 the fair will hold the «European Meeting of Construction Business Entrepreneurs» organized by the Leipzig Fair jointly with the Leipzig Chamber of Trade and Industry and the European Information Center. Information on companies applying for participation in the forum will be printed in the fair catalogue and sent to potential participants. Russian, German, Czech, Polish, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Austrian, Italian and French companies will take part (there will be 14 companies from Saint Petersburg alone). Another important event at the fair will be the summit of construction ministers from countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Russian participation in Baufach-2001 will be well publicized. News items will be placed on the Leipzig Fair Internet site, and also published in special periodicals. The editors of Petersburg Construction Market journal, an official information sponsor of the Leipziger Messe, has prepared a special bilingual (Russian-English) edition fully dedicated to Baufach-2001 and its Russian participants for distribution at the fair during opening hours.
